We are offering a large beaded Iroquois Purse from the Mohawk reservation outside of Montreal circa1850s and it is beaded on both sides. The purse is 7 inches long not including the beaded metal fringe at the bottom and it is 6 inches wide with a metal chain on the top. The purse has a silver metal top with a clasp and two hanging beaded silver drops.
The inside looks like muslin and the outside of the purse has two beaded flaps that come up with velvet underneath. One side the velvet has a small rip which we have shown above. These Iroquois purses with metal tops and metal fringe are not easy to find.We have shown one of the tiny beads making up this purse in a picture above and its hard to believe how anyone could put this bead on a string let alone have all of the beads sewn into this purse. Would look great as a center piece in your collection or display.
