Fishing creel splint ash basket Native American Maine abanaki old early 1800. Early hand made splint fishing creel from Maine native Americans. Probably mid to late 19th c 3.
Very good condition, not perfect, some small repairs 5. Leather hinges are a repair, probably had thin wrapped splint hinges 6.
Woven strap is an old belt, see photo 7. Front closure loop is a replacement, loop attached to basket is original 8. Small peg used to hold closed is a replacement 9. Splint is in good condition, no holes, very solid 10.
