ANTIQUE OJIBWA/ GREAT LAKES BEADED BANDOLIER BAG wonderful oak leaf pattern
This is a fine antique bandolier bag with the wonderful geometric oak leaf pattern. It could either be Ojibwa or other Great Lakes tribe.
I believe it is 100 years old? It appears to be in very good condition and displays beautifully. NOTE there is dryness which is caused the bead webs to drop beads throughout the piece, especially on the straps.
Beads drop when the piece is shaken, Because of this, I will not be rolling the piece and will send it only folded once. Perhaps a flexible light and clear adhesive could be washed over the fabric from the backside to secure the threading web. The backing muslin is accessible behind simple sewing.And perhaps a thinned clear adhesive could be soaked in to certain areas from inside. The geometric design seems somewhat modernist. Also its great to see the beaded fringe and wool puffs have held up well unlike on most bandoliers. I'm discounting the fine relic due to these issues but it is quite enjoyable as is.
