Antique Navajo Germantown Square Sampler Rug Native American Indian Textile

Listed for sale is this antique (likely first quarter of the 20th century) 19 14 square Navajo sampler. Textile is woven of analine-dyed Germantown wool in colors of red, white, black and gray with an hourglass design in the center.

The weave is extremely fine and tight with apprx 40 stiches per inch. Sample (as seen in photos) has some condition issues mostly caused by moth damage.

The binding is missing completely on all four sides and two of the edges are damaged with wool missing and the warp threads showing. There are also several moth holes throughout, the largest measuring apprx 1/4"d x 1 1/8". There is also a faded area running across the middle of one side of the sampler. Sampler was used a decorative wall hanging and made for an impressive and bold display.
