Antique Native American Sacred Tobacco/Medicine Bag. Circa 1800s, this comes from a estate with a small collection of Blackfoot items. The tanned hide is hand beaded with a minimal design on the front and back. All of the edges have beading and the color scheme is blue, white, red-orange and green. It has a hide tie closure and a small piece of hide tie is still inside. These pouches were used to carry the sacred tobacco leaves or offerings for rituals during ceremonies. The condition is excellent for its age.
