1880 Antique RABBIT CARRIER Native American BLACKFOOT INDIAN CHIEF Photo by ROSS. The "ebayPRYANKEE" watermark shown across the image is NOT on the actual photo. Ross, a Canadian photographer, is most noted for his images of the "Last Spike" ceremony which completed Canadian Pacific Railway, Canada's transcontinental railroad in 1885.

Misidentified on backside at top. Faintly handwritten in red grease-pencil: Akomuka / Chief Big Swan / Blackfoot. A later notation at bottom left corner accurtely identifies the subject as: ATTISTA-HAES / RABBIT CARRIER / BLACKFOOT CHIEF.

Incredibly, this photo was sent as a Holiday greeting, as the floral and bow border surrounding the portrait reads: A MERRY CHRISTMAS / HAPPY NEW YEAR. Mount size: 10" x 8" original cardboard mount. Actual photo size: 9" x 7 5/16". Photo displays beautifully, but please see large scan for exact condition. Absolutely no rips, tears, creases, holes, tape residue, or repairs.
