This very finely woven (approx 30/stitches per inch) basket is woven from split spruce root and the complex stunning false imbricated designs from natural and dyed bear grasses in red, cream and black. The stunning design features two bands of meandering step designs with a central band of floating trapezoids.Note the striking design visible on the bottom of the basket as well , just an extra feature of the weavers skill! This large basket measures 8" in diameter and stands 7" tall and is in good condition with a couple of very small splits that have been professionally restored (only slightly visible on the interior) and a pin head small hole on the bottom. This museum quality basket displays beautifully and is worthy of the finest collections.
