The quality and execution of the body and lid shows a mastery of the basketry craft. The design format and the use of the synthetic dyes among the early Panamint weavers is unusual and rare. Tina Dock was known for her use of color and the crafting of lidded baskets, and perhaps this is an early example of her work. The Panamint homeland was in the Panamint Mountains east of Death Valley, and down into the Valley in the winter. This basket was from a Tucson, Arizona collection.
