Beginning of 20th Century Provenience : Europen collection. Before that, Sioux Rosebud reservation. In hand-forged iron inserted by fire directly in the handle. Probably obtained by trade exchanges with trappeurs or European traders.
Handle: probably made of pear wood given the lightness of the artefact, painted with red ocher pigment, carved in the upper part with typical triangular geometric motifs, decorated with brass nails motif representing the 4 sacred directions or the 4 elements. The handle is chiseled on its dorsal perimeter with characteristic semi-spherical forms, from the late 1800, and it is decorated on both sides by brass nails, which give to the item extraordinary refinement. Decorations : on the upper part tuft of corvid feathers painted and tied with small pieces of leather laces, probably of deer. The lower part has a leather pendant and bells typical of the period in brass and blue and white Murano glass beads. EU: 19 USD USA: 35 USD Other countries: 45 USD.
