Northwest Coast Tlingit Haida Bowl Inuit Native Totem Carving Old c. Northwest Coast Old Otter Bowl Carving Circa 1920. The bowl has a beautiful dark and rich patina.
This bowl was decommissioned from a small museum at the old Seattle marine aquarium, which closed in the late 70's. This bowl comes from a collection which included two signature style Rudolph Walton pieces- I would assume it was carved in the same time period approx. This piece is masterfully carved in an even and flowing style. I would guess that this is either Haida or Tlingit.
It is made from some type of Northwest hardwood, possibly alder (not cedar or exotic hardwood). The rim has been inlaid with bone. Wear throughout commensurate with age. 10 inches long, 4 inches wide, 3.5 inches tall. Please be sure to check out my other NWC items.
