Recently authenticated by two colleagues who are highly knowledgeable in the field of Tlingit and Haida tribal art. This gorgeous (of museum calibre) object is a very rare Tlingit ceremonial headdress ornament.... Only a handful of these were made in the last decade of the 19th century and first decade of the twentieth.... They would've been tied to the elaborate ceremonial headdresses using animal sinew cord.... Inset with countless abalone shell pieces....
