LARGE NATIVE AMERICAN REDWARE POT OR OLLA. About 8 1/2" tall x 8" diameter. Large redware pot, decorated in white, black and ochre paint. It apparently was made as a useful, working vessel, not for the tourist trade. The upper rim is in serrated, undulating form, and lined with black paint. There are a few chips in the rim, but the serration appears to be part of the original design. Best guess for age is second half nineteenth century. I do not know the exact origin of the piece. I've never seen another design quite like this one. It is clearly Southwest Native American, probably of Zuni, Acoma or other Pueblo creation. If anyone has an authoritative opinion on it, I welcome your input. Surface appears to have darkened from usage and smoke. Some chips in the rim as mentioned above. A RARE AND UNUSUAL EXAMPLE OF NATIVE AMERICAN REDWARE POTTERY. The item "LARGE NATIVE AMERICAN REDWARE POTTERY JAR VESSEL PUEBLO 19TH C OLLA ACOMA ZUNI" is in sale since Thursday, September 28, 2017.
