A fine very rare early Northwest Coast Tlingit hand carved and painted cedar totem dating from the late 1800's. The totem depicts a shaman clutching a land otter.

Traces of old paint pigments, blue-green and black remain. The totem stands 12" tall x 3 1/8" wide and shows evidence it once had a base attached to the bottom.

Great Patina and imagery make this totem stand out among the many. This museum quality totem makes an impressive display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection.
