A very fine old Northwest Coast Tlingit or Kwakiutl hand hammered and carved sterling silver bracelet. The bracelet features great well carved imagery featuring a split whale design with a Thunderbird looking through the middle. The artist has done a masterful job with the execution and flow to the design, it is great how the Thunderbird's wings are also the whales back. The bracelet measures 2 1/2" D and has a circumference of 6 1/4" + 1 1/8" (flexible gap) = 7 3/8" in total. It is 1 high at the front. It should accommodate almost any size wrist. There are two small holes for a safety chain on the back corners. There may be an inscription or signature? Unfortunately we couldn't make it out. A fine piece of wearable art by a master Northwest Coast carver. Please check out other current offerings including a great Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian and Kwakiutl totem poles, many historic baskets de-accessioned from museum collections including Salish, Haida , Tsimshian , Cowlitz and Tlingit examples.
