A fine older Northwest Coast Salish Kwakiutl Indian hand carved and painted cedar mask depicting the NorthWind Spirit carved by master carver Doug LaFortune. Doug was born in 1953 and is member of the Salish tribe and was raised near Victoria on Vancouver Island he was inspired to start to carve by Simon Charlie.
His works are found in many museums and private collections. This fine mask by Doug measures 11" x 9 1/2" x 8 deep and is painted in bold pigments of red and blue. I really like the bold expressive deep cut features of this mask. A very striking bold mask that will make an impressive display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection.
