A fine rare early rare Northwest Coast Tlingit hand carved and painted cedar totem pole dating from the late 1800's. The totem features a strongman shaman splitting a seal with a Raven at the base. The totem stands a respectable 16 3/4" tall x 3 1/4" wide x 3 deep with a slight concave back , with traces of black and red pigment remain. Great sculptural quality from a rare early totem pole.
The totem doesn't appear that to have had separate base and stands well on its own. The totem makes an impressive display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection.
