This is one of two great early Yupik Eskimo masks that we're currently offering both appear to be made by the same maker at the same time. #1 A finely carved and painted old Yupik Eskimo ceremonial dance mask dating from the very early 1900's. The mask is wonderfully painted in black and red pigments which display the early tattoo patterns which were common before contact with Europeans. The mask comes with a metal museum bracket that can be used for display. The usual holes drilled for attachment , the original sinew cordage at the back is somewhat fragmentary.
