In the 1800s a farmer dug into an earthen mound along the banks of the Ouachita River north of Sterlington, Louisiana and unearthed a trove of artifacts, including this listed effigy face pot. The beautifully globular pot shows an open mouthed animal.

Minor abrasion scratches, soil dings. The condition is relatively good considering the fire clouds gracing the. Side of this spectacular Mound Builder fired clay artifact. Home to many mound building people who erected massive burial mounds along many of the major rivers there.
