This very rare and very beautiful, ca1880 Cree Indian Bead Decorated Pipe Bag in excellent condition. The soft, supple hide elements of the Bag are complete and exceptionally well preserved without damage or repairs of any kind. The fringe is 100% intact and original and the early muslin type lining of the bag is also exceptionally well preserved although darkened from decades of use as a Pipe Bag. The thin and delicate beaded border at the shaped top of the Bag is intact and complete and the vast majority of the bead decorated panels on the front and back of the Bag are exceptionally well preserved with a single, tiny area of loss affecting 3 rows of beads and approx.
1/4 long - see the close-up scan below. All elements of the Pipe Bag are original and there have been no repairs or restorations.
