Heres a beautiful 3 strand Zuni necklace composed of bone and turquoise beads. The beads are all authentic and date to the late 19. It was re-strung in the mid-20.
Century & in the traditional way. These sorts of necklaces were worn in conjunction with the more popular squash blossom silver necklaces around the necks of Zuni women (see juxtaposed photo of the beautiful Zuni woman). This necklace is a gorgeous specimen! Just the normal wear youd expect to see on beads which are 100+ years old. Some minor age cracks and chips to some of the beads but otherwise in fantastic condition for its old age.
The bone beads have a beautiful aged yellowish hue. Ex property of an English gentlemans wife who has Zuni ancestry. Her maternal grandmother was a full blooded Zuni and she re-strung the beads in the traditional manner back in the mid 20. The beads are older late 19.Century/1880s and they were family heirlooms. The length of the necklace, from one end to the other (un-fastened), is approx. A GORGEOUS SPECIMEN OF A ZUNI NECKLACE (COMPOSED OF BONE & TURQUOISE)AND A GOOD ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION OF NATIVE AMERICAN ART OR JEWELLERY.
