This fantastic Naja was collected in Ruidoso New Mexico sometime in the1930's. The turquoise is from the Enchantment mine which is located near Ruidoso. The mine was identified as Indian mine on a map dating back to the 1890's.
A gold prospector knew of the mine in the 1950s but didn't tell anyone until he informed the turquoise museum in 1997. I believe the Lowry family owns the mine now. The naja consists of two hand forged carinated bands with early pointed terminals. They are soldered together with a strip of silver. This strip forms both the bale and the hoops by which the turquoise hangs.
Rare piece with rich collection history. Measures 2 7/16" tall x 2 1/4" wide. Turquoise is 9/16" wide x 3/4" tall.
