These values do not dictate what a piece is worth. This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials.
The lobster clasp in this necklace was added on at a later date. There are a couple of inches of negative space in the string near the top of the clasp.
This can not be seen when worn, as it sits on the back of the neck. This beautiful necklace was made by a very talented Navajo Nation silversmith during the antique period. The necklace is un-signed but features high quality craftsmanship! The necklace is made out of gorgeous Sterling Silver and features a stunning assortment of graduated disc beads throughout! The silver work is astounding and includes gorgeous disc beads that are all beautifully hand crafted by a talented silversmith. The beads graduate in size from 23 mm in diameter at their largest to 12 mm in diameter at their smallest. Each bead features a gorgeous patina wear over the ages and a stunning stamped design! The stamped design on these beads is actually quite incredible! Each individual bead is beautifully hand stamped with the same design meaning they had a stamp size that fit each bead as they graduated between 12 mm and 23 mm in diameter! The stamped design features ornate details and adds even more elegance and style to this piece. The beads are beautifully string on a lovely sterling silver string that features a gorgeous box link pattern that supports their heavy weight perfectly. The most impressive feature of this necklace has to be its incredible length! I have never seen a Native American necklace as long as this gorgeous necklace, it measures 40.5 long alone and houses 85 gorgeous disc beads!
The incredible length of this necklace is simply something you will not find in other Native American jewelry out there, this is a once in a life time piece! The necklace is finished off with a lobster clasp that was added on at a later date and works perfectly.
Just think of the amount of time it took to make this incredibly stunning necklace! Compete with 85 gorgeous disc beads, individually stamped designs and an incredible length this necklace would of taken months to complete! Not to mention the pure amount of skill and precision it would of taken to make this piece, this is surely a product of someone who has mastered the craft!
Antique pieces such as this necklace from C. 1950 are extremely hard to find. If we add on the fact that this piece is completely hand crafted with gorgeous disc beads and an incredible length that you will find no where else, this piece is simply a must have! Sizable by Your Local Jeweler. Due to the age of some of these pieces some items will not be stamped.
The National Stamping Act was not enacted until 1906, before 1906 jewelry was not legally required to have a karat mark. This is one way to date items prior to the Art Nouveau time period. All of our jewelry is verified and guaranteed though an x-ray florescent-spectrometer test. This test conducts and determines the exact alloy content within the metal without damaging the piece like scratch and acid testing. Please be aware if you take an item to be tested by a jeweler, jewelers use scratch testing and electronic testing.
These methods are only accurate 50% of the time, these are cheap, ineffective, and damaging ways to test to gold purity of an item. The XRF requires specialized training in order to correctly read the results. Rest assured that what you are receiving is 100% accurate. Item(s) must be sent back in original condition. If you plan to take your item to a jeweler please visit one with a specialized field in estate jewelry. Most jewelry stores work with new/modern designs and on rare occasion are asked about vintage items. Chain jewelers are NOT a reliable source to date a piece of jewelry unless they are specialized with estate items. Aumia sees more antique and vintage jewelry pieces in one day than the average jeweler sees in years. Please take your time to find a qualified, and reputable antique dealer if you would like a second opinion. We do not undervalue items or mark them as gifts. We started out in the jewelry business knowing individuals who were in the smelting business. As we watched these smelters melting new, vintage, & antique 100+ year old jewelry for the metal value, we cringed!! We thought that there must be a way to save this special and once in a lifetime type of jewelry instead of melting these wonderful items. We started to set up at trade shows and other events to sell to people.
I'm glad we did, you can get just as much interaction with people over the internet as you can face to face. We love all of our customers and love the quick messages anybody likes to send our way!
