These were in the display case as pictured when I bought them -and looked like they had been for several decades. Possibly from a museum collection? There was a number on the back as if it had been catologued. The knife is heavy for its size. The leather sheath is still pliable and I would guess it'll have a beautiful, rich patina once cleaned up.
I took them out of the display to photograph. The bowie knife is 14-1/2" and the sheath is almost 10-3/4".They each have two shallow marks from having been gently screwed into place. Note We strive to describe all items to the best of our ability. Most all of our pieces come from private local Houston area estates-many from estates that have never been offered to the public. We are passionate about the pieces we sell and have decades of experience but, we are not experts in any one area of expertise and occasionally, an Asian piece can get by us. If we are not sure, we will conservatively assign a later date and note that it could be earlier. Items are not returnable if it is not of the age or value you were hoping it to be, with NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Many of the items listed are old vintage or antique pieces and, in many cases, over a hundred, or even hundreds of years old.
