It is made of rawhide stretched over a round wooden limb and secured with hide. It has a beautiful bird effigy painted on the front. It is quite faded but still visible.It has a large bird wing drop attached near the top and 2 bird feet attached near the bottom. It has a leather strap attached with hide/sinew. Overall this piece is heavily worn but is still very solid. This piece was acquired from a South Dakota collection many years ago. The original owner acquired the Shield from the Wyoming area and believed it to be of Cheyenne origin.
