Listed elsewhere are (7) Inuit carvings plus an authentic Inuit Anorak windbreaker. The items in this listing are from the estate of the same WWII Veteran. History teaches us that Greenland was once a part of Denmark. However when the Germans invaded Denmark in WWII, Greenland pulled away from Denmark. At that point, the United States became concerned that the Germans might invade Greenland and be on our Country's doorstep. To address that concern, the, the U. Army Air Corps occupied Greenland from 1941 thru 1945. The pictures and other items in this lot are from that period and include mainly Scoresbysund, Greenland, with a few pictures from Iceland and New Foundland. The pictures show what a broad landscape this area is and just how sparsely populated it is. Also it is fairly obvious that our Military had a lot of friends. There is a photo of what appears to be a communication center plus many, many more photos of life among the Native Iniut People. There are unusual animal photos including Husky dogs and a photo of Polar Bear cubs on a leash. The item "200+ Photos-Scoresbysund, Greenland-Iceland, Inuit Indians, Military" is in sale since Saturday, August 20, 2016. This item is in the category "Antiques\Ethnographic\Native American".
